Salzedo: Five Preludes for Harp Alone
Alice Giles presents an in-depth course of video lessons, for intermediate to advanced students and teachers.
Watch PromoCarlos Salzedo's Five Preludes for Harp Alone were seminal works for the harp, marking the beginning of a new way to approach the
instrument. Through working on these Preludes the student learns
essential aspects of technique, including the different harpistic
gestures for expressive colour and tone control. Use the advantages of
the video lesson format to listen to the differences in gesture, and
watch an expert demonstrate.
Each piece stands alone, and can be learnt separately. The course never expires, and each piece has ca. 30 mins of videos divided into short ca. 5 min clips, each one designed to accompany a daily practice session. You can re-visit the videos as often as you wish, or ask a question in the comments section, to delve deep into the sound world of resonance and colour that is unique to Salzedo.
Alice Giles has performed, recorded and taught the works of Salzedo extensively, and is an internationally acknowledged authority, continuing a tradition passed on directly from Salzedo's own students.
