Even if you have progressed past the Beginner stage, the First Steps hold my basic aspects approach to learning the harp, which form the basis of all the following steps. If you are a teacher it will provide you with systems, words and concepts to aid you in teaching this vital stage.

Completion of all the Steps will give you a thorough grounding at the harp, without strain and from which you can share your playing with others competently. It will cover all the basic technical needs to play rewarding repertoire, as well as the basic array of extended techniques (glissandi, harmonics, nails, xylophonics etc), including a string-changing demo and some exclusive arrangements. The structured curriculum is a useful aid to teachers as a guide to logical progress, including repertoire with consistent, smooth development.

With this Beginner Level, you will have a complete guide in videos to what I would consider the essential fundamentals of playing the harp.

"I found this lesson to be really useful because sometimes I have difficulty to teach my students to raise their hands and come back to the strings without changing the wrist position. It’s really great to be able to come back and revisit some of the basic techniques. Thanks for creating such an excellent learning resource!" J. L. Beijing

"All of your explanations make so much sense and I love the fact that you're 'visiting' me in my living room. I'm often so focussed on what you're doing and saying that I sometimes forget that I'm watching you on screen. The close-up videos are excellent and the key words in the background help to visually remember the steps." M.N. Düsseldorf
